Ouse Valley IT

The person who turns up

Ouse Valley IT is one person. When you book, that is who answers, and that is who knocks on the door.

My day job is Lead Helpdesk Engineer. I look after computers, networks and security for businesses, charities, councils and financial firms — and the long list of things that go wrong with them.

The same problems turn up in people's homes, and there is often nowhere good to take them. A national helpline treats you as a case number. A shop wants the machine left for a week. Neither has time to sit with you and explain what actually happened.

I studied Business Information Systems, then ran my own small business for a few years before moving into IT properly at thirty. I know what it is like to depend on a computer that will not cooperate, and how quickly that turns into a bad afternoon.

So Ouse Valley IT is the opposite of all that: unhurried, local, and happy to explain.

How I work

  • Plain words

I say what is wrong and what I did, in normal English. Want more detail? Ask. Would rather not? That is fine too.

  • Time to do it right

I am not watching the clock to the next job. A few extra questions while I am there are part of the visit.

  • Straight about cost

You get a clear idea of the price before I start. If a job is not worth doing, I will say so.

  • Local and answerable

I live in the valley. My name is on the work, and I would like you to call me the next time as well.

  • Comfortable at home

DBS checked and insured, so having me in the house is one less thing to think about.

  • Patient, whoever you are

First computer or fiftieth, confident or wary — the visit moves at your pace, not mine.
